National Candle Association Promotes World Candle Month

Industry resource adds consumer-focused website all about home fragrance.

Fall 2024 home fragrances are out in stores now.

Established in 2013 by the National Candle Association (NCA), World Candle Month (WCM) is celebrated every September and proudly promotes the various ways candles enrich our lives. This year, NCA has selected the WCM theme of “How Do You Candle?” to start a conversation on the ways candles are incorporated into our lives. The engagement will continue with consumers with the new AskAboutCandles.com website.

“World Candle Month is a time to celebrate the history and innovation of candles. We are excited to launch the AskAboutCandles.com consumer-focused website to answer questions about candles, provide tips and trends and most importantly, share how to use candles safely,” said Steve Horenziak, president of NCA.

NCA also shared some scent trends for the season:

Earthy Scents: grass, cedar, willow, palm and rain.

Food Scents: tomato, sweet pea, beet, fig, fresh herbs, roasted sesame or ginger

Location: scents of cities (think rain and moss for Seattle), plus every vacation destination now has a candle scent (melted butter and sea salt for Cape Cod)

Nostalgic: smells of lunchbox sweet treats, cereals and soda pops
