Sally Beauty is launching its latest campaign, “You by Sally,” in partnership with TikTok Creator and musician Heather Chelan, bringing new life to the company’s longtime commitment to self-expression and empowerment. This past March, Heather Chelan posted her now viral hit “Having Colored Hair Doesn’t Make You Unprofessional” (which generated 7.9M views and inspired many folks to duet her post, including Haley Williams from Paramore), reminding the public that bold hair colors have no impact on peoples’ professional abilities. Inspired by Heather’s succinct insight that resonated so firmly with what they stand for, Sally Beauty immediately knew they wanted to collaborate with Heather to create an extended track that would not only double down on her original message, but also look to un-norm other archaic views on colored hair. Thus, the song, titled “Colored Hair,” an anthem and rally cry in celebration of self-expression, was born. Bright, contemporary hair color was one of the fastest-growing segments in 2020, seeing consumers more open to experimenting and expressing themselves through color. Sally Beauty is the leading omni-channel destination for hair color. Standing apart from its competition, Sally Beauty is a one-stop-shop for all at-home hair color needs, with over 1200 salon-quality shade options. Customers can choose from over 250 vibrant, bright shades and over 950 gray coverage shades in-store and online, as seen with leading launches here. Alongside Heather Chelan, the video features a diverse cast of influencers with unique professions, ages, and backgrounds to further reinforce the message of self-expression including Sally Beauty CEO Chris Brickman with hair as bold as his vision for the brand. Additional talent includes granfluencer Baddiewinkle, dancer Marquese ‘Nonstop’ Scott, and LGBTQ+ advocate and Be Free Stories founder Brian Terada. “You by Sally” is out now on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Video Streaming Platforms. In addition to the ad campaign, the full version of “Colored Hair” will be available on Spotify and YouTube, and will be featured on Sally Beauty’s Spotify playlist.
