Friday webinar explores why brands need to understand epidermal functionality according to different generational needs.
September 19, 2017
By: Christine Esposito
Editor-in-Chief
As one ages, skin is constantly changing and thus the needs of an effective skin care regimen. Changes in skin appearance, however, are not exclusively a matter of the number of birthdays celebrated, but more so, the visible impact of repeated exposure to stresses which compromise the integrity of our skin barrier. The traditional focus in skin aging has been centered around changes in the dermal skin layer, however, skin resilience is an expansion of skin care to include the significant visible and sensorial benefits that can be achieved with a focus on the skin barrier—the epidermis. The skin resilience needs of the different generations – Baby Boomers, Generations X, Y (Millennials), and Z, vary due to the degree of exposure that each have had to different stress factors. Understanding epidermal functionality according to different generational needs allows cosmetic innovators to assess the necessary intervention points for a holistic beauty care approach to address relevant consumer needs such as dry and sensitive skin as well as enlarged pores and pigmented spots. Happi will host a special webinar, sponsored by DSM, on Friday, Sept. 22 at 11am EST to cover this growing area of importance to companies looking to win in the competitive skin care marketplace where consumers expectations are always evolving. During this webinar, listeners will hear a scientific view of critical skin barrier changes over time, presented by a leading independent researcher in the field of epidermal science Experts will explore the differing generational needs for skin resilience and provide details on powerful hero ingredient solutions that can counteract these changes. With its CORNEOCARE platform, DSM has focused successfully on creating new innovative products and concepts to address consumers every day need for holistic beauty care specifically related to the skin barrier. The speakers include Anthony (Tony) Rawlings, BSc, Ph.D., FRSC, FRSB, who has 30 years of experience in skincare R&D. Rawlings is a visiting professor at the UCL School of Pharmacy and has authored more than 250 publications and patents, and is co-editor of the first and second editions of ‘Skin Moisturization.” Dr. Mathias Gempeler, head of global marketing skin care at DSM, will also present during the webinar. Gempeler holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Basel, with a postgraduate in Marketing. Register now: https://event.webcasts.com/starthere.jsp?ei=1159619
