For World Environment Day (June 5), Stella by Stella McCartney is spotlighting its support in tackling plastic pollution.

By reinventing product refills, prioritizing the use of renewable and recycled materials and limiting the use of virgin plastic, the brand says it is committed to reducing its impact as much as possible.

“We are one with nature,” says McCartney. “By living in harmony with her, we care for ourselves and the planet equally.”

The skin care brand is responsibly designed to minimize the use of oil-based materials, and instead prioritizing those “esponsible” materials such as the recycled social plastic from Plastic Bank for its pump kit. In terms of recyclability, all Stella products are housed in a reusable bottle made from recycled glass. IFefill pouches are made of mono-material to maximize its recyclability.

Refills can be used once to lower the product’s impact on climate change by a third, and twice to lower it by half. Refills are linked predominately from wood waste using the mass balance principle.

Stella by Stella McCartney’s Reset Cleanser retails for $60 with the refill, $45; Alter-Care Serum is $140 and $10 for the refill; and Restore Cream is $105 with the refill retailing for $85.
