Academy Award-winning Actress Tilda Swinton is the spokesperson for Black Orchid Reserve, a new scent from Tom Ford. The scent debuts September 1.

A celebrated actor and artist, Swinton is an Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement winner. According to the brand, Swinton defies conventions with elegance, intellect and a visionary approach to cinema. Her work transcends definition, shaping the culture through work in film, art and performance.

“It is a profound honor for me to play a part in the history of Tom Ford’s legendary Black Orchid,” said Swinton in a statement. “Transformation, the blurring of boundaries and the celebration of magical properties have always drawn me close; Black Orchid Reserve is precisely such an enchantment.”

Give It Up for the Ghost

The fragrance features Ghost Orchid. The phantom-like flower is revered as one of the most elusive in the world, according to The Estée Lauder Cos. brand. Tom Ford captured the fragrance with headspace technology the moment the Ghost Orchid blooms. Described as “a decadent white floral,” it provides a brilliant contrast to Black Orchid’s rich, dark accords and spice.

Tom Ford’s creative director, Haider Ackermann, designed the campaign as a cinematic portrait of rarity in its most heightened form. Shot by Inez and Vinoodh, the campaign images and video show Swinton in fluid motion. It is a portrait of a woman who awakens the world around her through gaze and gesture, stillness and strength, according to the brand.
