Using Undaria Extract To Reduce Signs of Aging Skin

US Patent No. 11,154,491 B2 (Scott W. Wenzel, David J. Tyrrell, Alencia Vanay Grice, Stephanie VandeVen Teat, and Jeffery Richard Seidling); Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc., Neenah, WI, has patented a method for reducing the signs of skin aging.

The method is comprised of topically applying a composition that has an active ingredient, a skin penetration enhancer (dimethyl isosorbide or glycerin), a polar co-solvent (selected from the group consisting of ethanol, propanediol, ethoxydiglycol and 1,2-propanediol) and a hydrophilic carrier (glycerin or water) to a target skin region of the individual. The active ingredient consists essentially of an Undaria extract and optionally, beta-sitosterol. 

The undaria extract is present in an amount of from approximately 0.01- 10% (w/w).
