Bio-Oil is launching Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel, a gel-to-oil intensive moisturizer specifically formulated for dry skin. This marks the Brand’s second (and only) new product in more than 30 years.
A new way to treat dry skin, Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is comprised of 87% oil, including many of the skin soothing emollients and humectants also found in the original Bio-Oil Skincare Oil. Unlike traditional lotions, creams and body butters that are made primarily from water, and simply evaporate when they come in contact with the skin, Dry Skin Gel’s breakthrough texture instantly absorbs and locks in moisture to effectively treat dry skin and the unwanted symptoms associated with it such as redness, flaking, irritation and itching.
Bio-Oil owners and research directors, brothers Justin and David Letschert, explain that traditional dry skin products “are made with water, about 80% water. Water gets repelled by the skin. So we said: let’s get rid of the water. And what do we replace it with? Oil, obviously, because oil locks in moisture.”
In a 100-person user trial, the majority of participants said that Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel was better than any product they had used before for dry skin. According to Bio-Oil, 86% of trial users reported that they saw an improvement in their skin over a two-week period and 92% agreed their skin felt immediately moisturized after applying it.
Dry Skin Gel will be available in three sizes: 6.7 oz, 3.4 oz, and 1.7 oz at mass market retailers, drugstores and online distributers in the United States as of October 2020.
