Amitose DGA (Bis-Glyceryl Ascorbate) is Seiwa Kasei’s original patented vitamin C derivative and high-stability and moisturizing are important. Oftentimes, there is low stimulation compared with other vitamin C derivatives.

Seiwa Kasei performed a short time exposure test (STE) with Amitose DGA and some of vitamin C. The test is an in-vitro test to check the stimulation of material. SIRC cells are cultivated containing vitamin C, and the survival rate (viability) are checked a few hours later.

The results found that there is not a substantial difference between each vitamin C derivative at 0.05% of lower dosage. However, the survival rate for Amitose DGA was much higher than Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid at 5% of high dosage.

For formulators wanting to use a high dosage of vitamin C, Seiwa Kasei recommends Amitose DGA in terms of safety.
