Unless it’s an ugly Christmas sweater, no one likes prime rib au jus splattered all over their new cashmere top at the dinner table during holiday festivities. But one household cleaning brand is embracing the mess.
For its "The Great Holiday Stain-Off" social media campaign, Arm & Hammer recruited Chef David Burtka to show three TikTok influencer families (the Gopolans, the Pattons and the Rolons) the beauty and fun of cooking a delicious holiday meal with family minus the fabric stains. According to the brand, food stains, body odor and dirty kitchen towels are no match for Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Laundry Detergent.
On the market for more than five years, the detergent is concentrated with two-times powerful stain fighters in every drop versus the leading bargain detergent and supercharged with OxiClean stain fighters for effective stain-lifting and whitening, according to Xi Chen, associate marketing director for Arm & Hammer Laundry. Topped off with a lasting fresh scent, the detergent tackles over 100 tough stains including gravy, chocolate syrup, and macaroni and cheese. What’s more, the low-sudsing formula rinses cleaner and is designed to work in both standard machines and today’s energy-conscious High Efficiency models.
Among the brand’s most influential proponents? Chef Burtka.

“David Burtka is a great role model for how to handle the holidays smoothly and keep them chaos-free while enjoying time with the whole family,” explained Chen. “He is a believer in the power of Arm & Hammer plus OxiClean and how it can help keep your time in the kitchen and laundry room stress free.”
For optimal stain removing results, Burtka says time is key.
“Say you get a stain on your clothes, it’s important not to let the stain sit for too long,” said Burtka in a news release. “Toss your clothes in the wash with Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Laundry Detergent and trust that the detergent will take care of the remnants of your easy meal prep.”
While he says it’s OK to be slapdash in the kitchen, for the most successful holiday dinner, Burtka encourages having a plan in place, by minding the mantra, “fail to plan, plan to fail.”
“To minimize chaos, my family and I start preparing the day before the event. Decorate, set the table, measure and chop the ingredients so they’re ready to go. And remember to keep your cooking space clean as you go!”
Arm & Hammer worked with creative agency Mover+Shakers on the campaign, which began in early November.
