AlEn USA Expands Ensueño Range with Liquid Detergent

New format delivers convenience, performance and modern scent, according to VP of Marketing and Innovation Tanu Grewal.

A new liquid formulation has arrived at Ensueño.

AlEn USA has expanded its Ensueño brand with liquid laundry detergent—a new format that expands the range beyond powder detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets and scent beads.

“With Ensueno, our goal has always been to provide a full portfolio of products to customers. That way, they can choose their own preferences and mix and match products while maintaining a consistent fragrance,” Tanu Grewal, VP of marketing and innovation, AlEn USA, told Happi.

The detergent has enzyme-powered stain removal and color-fading protection that works in cold water and shorter cycles, according to AlEn USA, the North American subsidiary of Grupo AlEn. In addition, its Radiant Fresh scent is said to eliminate odors and guarantee freshness for up to six weeks after washing.

“More and more people, especially younger generations are choosing a liquid option as it dissolves easier and is versatile with different water temperatures. Consumers want a liquid laundry detergent solution that can do it all: high cleaning performance, convenient format, and odor control with lasting freshness, which is exactly what Ensueno excels at,” she added.

According to Grewal, the new liquid formulation offers “an exceptional clean for an exceptional value.” 

Scent Design

In addition to performance, AlEn USA focused on new liquid format’s scent, partnering with professional fragrance houses from very early stages to better understand the category as a whole—from general consumers to current olfactive trends to cultural drivers.

“We wanted to go into product development as informed as possible…..[W]e have a deep understanding of the Hispanic consumer. However, our goal was to broaden our appeal to multi-cultural and multi-generational households,” she said.

“Fragrance is so important to us at Ensueño, it’s definitely one of the things that sets us apart from competitors and what customers call out most often,” Grewal added. “Figuring out how to ensure that the same quality and freshness we’re known for is captured in this new product is why we spent so much time and effort in development.”

Fresh/Clean Decoded

The reality is: there is no single scientific definition of a “clean scent.”

“Instead, it is a cultural and psychological perception, shaped by specific molecules or combinations of molecules that the brain associates with cleanliness,” said Grewal.

AlEn USA and its partners identified four key olfactive families that broadly characterize fresh/clean: aldehydic, fruity, citrus and floral.

“All fragrances developed for Ensueño Liquid Detergent were crafted around these families, each with its own balance and nuances to create a unique identity,” she said.

Radiant Fresh, according to AlEn USA, is said to capture the purity and lightness of white and transparent flowers, the natural crispness of green notes, and the “unmistakable clean signal of aldehydic notes at the top,” anchored by a warm, creamy base of coconut and woods that adds “depth, dimension, and care,” according to Grewal.
