Peace Out Formulates New Acne Treatment Designed for More Peaceful Skin

Combining salicylic acid, niacinamide and ceramides, Peace Out’s Medicated Acne Gel is a single product that’s part acne care, part hydrating moisturizer.

Most consumers want a more simplified skincare routine. For acne sufferers, there are usually extra steps involved in the quest for improved skin. And that means more products and a more complex regiment.

Peace Out says its new Medicated Acne Gel Moisturizer, available online, is a multi-benefit product that delivers on three fronts—it treats acne, it calms inflammation and it restores the skin barrier.

The trio of ingredients driving the product are salicylic acid, niacinamide and ceramides. The formula combines two essential products into one, making it a simple, but powerful and effective solution for acne-prone skin, according to officials.

Peace Out says the secret is that 2% salicylic acid—the beta hydroxy acid—is infused within a hydrating moisturizer.

“Salicylic acid, niacinamide and ceramides each play unique roles in treating acne and can work synergistically to improve skin health,” said Dr. Carol Cheng, board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist. Cheng is also assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California Los Angeles and a Peace Out dermatology partner.

“When combined, salicylic acid, niacinamide and ceramides work synergistically to improve acne. Salicylic acid exfoliates and clears out pores, while niacinamide calms inflammation and regulates oil production. Ceramides strengthen the skin’s barrier and retains moisture, counteracting dryness or irritation from other acne fighting ingredients,” Cheng added.

The formula is silky soft, lightweight and deeply hydrating, according to the fast-growing company, which made its mark with Acne Dots.

Key Ingredients At Work

Salicylic acid  helps dissolve the buildup of dead skin cells and sebum, reducing the risk of clogged pores and acne.

“Salicylic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce redness,” Cheng told Happi.

Niacinamide, known to reduce inflammation and erythema, regulates sebum production to minimize skin oiliness. It also improves the skin barrier function and can improve post acne hyperpigmentation, according to Cheng.

Ceramides retain moisture and prevent water loss.

“Ceramides can also reduce the dryness or irritation that may result from acne treatments,” Cheng added.

Peace Out’s Acne Gel Moisturizer was clinically proven to reduce acne by 98% after three weeks without irritation or dryness, based on a three-week clinical study with 34 participants.  Further, 97% noticed visibly clearer and smoother skin after using this product, according to consumer perception data shared by the brand.
