RITA Corp.: Dan Beio has been appointed the new vice president of research and development. Mr. Beio, a 28-year veteran of the personal care industry, was previously employed by the Access Business Group as director of beauty and research and development.
Degussa Goldschmidt Chemical Corp.: Janet Kosiek, formerly marketing manager for personal care, was promoted to marketing and sales manager for home care products. Dr. Wolfgang Goertz, formerly manager of new business development, was promoted to marketing manager for cosmetic care products.
Ms. Kosiek and Dr. Goertz will continue to report to John Dougherty, business line director for personal care, Goldschmidt Chemical Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Degussa Corporation. Both will be based at the main office of the personal care business line in North America, in Hopewell, VA.
Baker Petrolite: Joe Lasaponara will assume the role of North American sales manager, polymers group and will be responsible for sales management across the industrial and personal care industries. He previously held the position of account manager for New Phase Technologies, the personal care industry business group within Baker Petrolite.
Cosmolab: Jean-Marie Colle has been appointed vice president of global business development, responsible for global color cosmetic sales. Mr. Colle joined Cosmolab in April of 2005 as managing director of Cosmolab Europe and is located in Cosmolab’s Switzerland office.
Sun Chemical: Dainippon Ink and Chemicals (DIC), Sun Chemical Corporation’s parent company, has appointed David Hill chief executive officer and president of Sun Chemical. He will also join the board. Mr. Hill succeeds Wes Lucas who has resigned, but who will remain chairman.
DIC also elected Naoki Tsuji and Kazuo Kudo to the board of Sun Chemical Corporation.
New Jersey Packaging: Robert Palmisano has joined the company as sales and marketing manager. For the past seven years, he was eastern regional sales manager with American Fuji Seal, in Fairfield, NJ. Prior to that, he spent 12 years with CCL Label in Hightstown, NJ where he served in a number of roles including sales, human resources manager and procurement manager.
Dermatologic Formula: Joseph S. Hawley has been appointed president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Joe Contorno, a co-founder of the firm, who will become vice chairman. Mr. Hawley previously served with Avon Products Inc. for six years as group vice president of the U.S. beauty division and global supply chain, and prior as vice president and general manager of the Avon jewelry division. Earlier in his career, he was vice president for The Erno Laszlo Institute and vice president of sales and marketing for Liz Claiborne jewelry.
MGP Ingredients, Inc.: David Dykstra has joined as industrial alcohol sales manager. He brings 18 years of sales and marketing experience to the position, including 11 years that were previously spent with the company.
Yankee Candle Co.: President Harlan M. Kent has been promoted to the additional role of chief operating officer, a new position. Mr. Kent joined the company in 2001 as senior vice president of wholesale and has served as president since 2004.
CTFA: Francine Lamoriello has joined the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association as executive vice president for global strategies. Kathleen Dezio has joined as executive vice president of public affairs and communications. Kristen Bogenrief has been named executive vice president. Lou Santucci, formerly vice president, international, has been promoted to executive vice president, business development and marketing.
Rieke Packaging Systems: Andre Harris has been hired as business development manager. Mr. Harris will be responsible for east coast sales growth of the company’s dispensing products.
Pür Minerals: Heidi Davis has been appointed director of training and education. Most recently, she served as national sales manager for Urban Decay and Hard Candy cosmetics.
World Wide Packaging Inc.: Jeffrey M. Hayet has been appointed vice president, plastic tube division. Mr. Hayet has more than 20 years of experience in the plastic tube industry, having most recently served as director of North American sales for CCL Plastic Industries. Rick Weisbrod has been appointed vice president, contract manufacturing. Prior to joining World Wide Packaging, Mr. Weisbrod served as vice president of operations for Del Laboratories.
Frutarom USA Inc.: James Zhu has joined the company as R&D food/flavor technologist. He was previously with Symrise, working in food applications, flavor analysis, formulating, pilot plant scale-ups and sales in the U.S. and China for the past 21 years.
Engelhard Corp: The company has expanded its international sales organization for personal care materials. Three regional offices will now serve customers worldwide. The Europe/ Middle East /Africa/ South America region will be served by the Paris-based office led by Patrick Ledjam, director. The Asia-Pacific region will be covered by Laurent Martin, director, based in Tokyo. North American customers will be served by Tony Jaillot, director, and his team based in New York, NY. Frank Freiler (based in Iselin, NJ) is Engelhard’s general manager for personal care materials worldwide; Frederic Herbet (based in Paris) is global sales director.
Alco Chemical: Win Cooke has been promoted to corporate vice president, Alco Chemical, and an officer of National Starch and Chemical Company. In his new position, Mr. Cooke will remain general manager of Alco Chemical’s global operations.
The Clorox Co.: George Harad has been elected to the board. Mr. Harad most recently served as executive chairman of the board of OfficeMax Inc. until his retirement in June 2005.
Polarome International: Morry Seidel has been appointed manager of U.S. sales. Robert Habeck has been appointed marketing manager. John Potocek has been named sales executive and will be responsible for a wide variety of domestic accounts. Kristyn Bryant has joined the company and will be responsible for ingredient sales and the development of new customers.
J&E Sozio: Dominique Bouley has been hired as senior perfumer. Megan Hespos has joined the company as East Coast sales representative and marketing manager.
Colgate-Palmolive Co.: J. Pedro Reinhard, former executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Dow Chemical Co., has been elected to Colgate’s board. Having most recently overseen Dow’s Latin America and AgroSciences businesses, he has held a variety of senior international, financial and operating leadership positions at Dow since he began his career there in 1970 in Brazil.
Nease Corp.: Debbie Miniard has been promoted to supply chain manager at the Cincinnati, OH office. Her responsibilities will include negotiating and monitoring major supply contracts and overseeing a railcar fleet.
Gordon W. Geist has been hired as sales and marketing manager. He will be responsible for the company’s field sales organization, developing sales budgets and forecasts, identifying new business opportunities and managing pricing.
McKernan Packaging: Jim Lemmons has been appointed to the new position of general manager. Bill Dennison has been appointed to the new post of wholesale purchasing manager.
Spectrum Brands, Inc.: David Lumley has been named president, North America, with direct oversight of the company’s North American business segment, comprising batteries and portable lighting, shaving, grooming and personal care products, lawn and garden products and household insect control. In this position, he will have overall responsibility for the financial performance of the North American business and will participate in corporate strategy development as a member of the company’s executive committee.
