Reckitt Benckiser Patents Dilutable Cleaner
Patent No. US 7,378,380 B2
Reckitt Benckiser (UK) Limited has patented a dilutable composition comprised of a pH-elevating component and a pH-lowering component. The pH-elevating component dissolves or disperses in water to form a mixture where the pH is elevated to at least 8.5. Subsequently, the pH-lowering component dissolves or disperses in the mixture and the pH of the mixture is lowered from at least 8.5 to not more than four. The composition, which contains a surfactant, an oxidizing agent and reducing agent, is provided as a dispersion or suspension of a particulate component in a liquid carrier.
Fabric Softener Patented by Ecolab
Patent No. US 7,381,697 B2
A fabric softener that attaches to the inside wall of a laundry dryer has been patented by Ecolab Inc. The fabric softener composition results from melt mixing and molding a fabric softener component with a melting point of greater than 90°C and a carrier component so that it provides fabric softening properties to wet laundry during drying.
Sunless Tanner Patented by Playtex
Patent No. US 7,378,084 B2
Playtex Products, Inc. has been issued a patent for a sunless tanning composition that contains dihydroxyacetone and an amphoglycinate.
Fragrance Delivery System for Cleaners
Patent No. US 7,381,417 B2
Firmenich SA has been awarded a U.S. patent for a scent delivery system for surface cleaners and conditioners. The carrier and delivery system is comprised of a water miscible cationic polymer or mixture of polymers susceptible of forming a gel; one or more water immiscible liquid polymers or oligomers; and a hydrophobic benefit agent.
Fibrous Elastic Gel Cleaner
Patent No. US 7,381,693 B2
Unilever has patented a fibrous elastic gel cleansing article that is shaped like a toilet bar. It is comprised of a foamable composition that contains a foaming surfactant, a thermo-reversible gelling agent with a melting temperature between 30-80°C, and water. The fibrous layer is comprised of a continuous network of bonded fibers selected from polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, cellulose, modified or regenerated cellulose and blends thereof and is partially encompassed by the foamable composition.
Cosmetic Composition
Patent U.S. No. 7,378,103 B2
L’Oréal has patented a cosmetic composition that contains a cosmetically-acceptable medium, polyglycerolated silicone elastomer, an ingredient chosen from at least one emulsifying elastomer different from the polyglycerolated silicone elastomer, a film forming polymer, a water soluble moisturizer, a coated pigment, a structuring agent, a photoprotective system capable of screening out UV radiation, a non-emulsifying spherical silicone elastomer, a fiber, non-crosslinked surfactant (with the proviso that it is not chosen from polyglycerolated non-crosslinked silicone surfactants) hydrocarbyl-functional siloxane, a low molecular weight phenyl-substituted siloxane and a cosmetically-suitable active ingredient.
Hair Styling Gel
Patent No. US 7,378,085 B2
A long retention hairstyling gel has been assigned to L’Oréal, Paris. The formulation contains a fixing film-forming polymer that is a branched block copolymer consisting of n-butyl acrylate, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and allyl methacrylate; a thickening agent that is a cross-linked or non-cross-linked homopolymer or copolymer based on acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or acrylic and methacrylic acid; and a co-thickening agent that is a non-cellulosic thickening polymer different from the previous thickening agent, wherein the fixing film-forming polymer has at least two glass transition temperatures.
Insect Repellent Patented by Bioniche Life Sciences
Patent No. US 7,381,431 B2
Bioniche Life Sciences, Inc., Belleville, Ontario, Canada, has been granted a patent covering an insect repellent. The composition is comprised of evening primrose oil, catnip oil and a carrier.
UV Protection Emulsion Patented by L’Oréal
Patent No. US 7,381,403 B2
L’Oréal, Paris (France) has patented a finely divided UV-photoprotective oil-in-water emulsion that is microscopically stable for at least 30 days in the absence of phase separation. The oil globules, which have an average size of no more than 500nm, contain particles of at least one ionic polymer and at least one UV radiation-screening system that contains at least one 4,4-diarylbutadiene UVA-screening agent.
