RITA Hires Steve Neidenberg as Planning/Sourcing Head
RITA Corporation: hired Steve Neidenberg as director, strategic planning and global sourcing. He will be responsible for identifying new suppliers as well as new raw materials and technologies. Mr. Neidenberg brings with him more than 30 years of industry experience including serving as past chair of the New York chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Most recently, he worked as purchasing director for Northeast Chemical.
Glenn Corporation: appointed Craig Strane to the newly created position of supply chain manager. He will be responsible for all aspects of the supply chain. Mr. Strane brings to Glenn Corporation a 20-year history of purchasing and logistics experience.
Power Paper Ltd.: appointed Aviv Ben-Yacov as Americas director of sales. His responsibilities include developing strategic sales plans to drive profitable growth in Power Paper’s micro-power system’s business. Mr. Ben-Yacov comes to Power Paper from a major public consumer good manufacturer with experience in the international market arena.
J&E Sozio: named Tracey Lundquist director of marketing and evaluation for its U.S. location. Before joining J&E Sozio, she worked at Alpine Aromatics as the director of marketing. Previously, Ms. Lundquist held marketing and evaluation roles with CPL Aromas and International Aromatics.
Surefil: added three new individuals to its team. John Ciotola has been hired as director of sales, Jessica Gaddis has been named marketing assistant and Bob Piellusch has been tapped to serve as a customer service analyst.
Mr. Ciotola is the former vice president of sales at Ascendia Brands and has more than 25 years of experience. A recent graduate, Ms. Gaddis previously worked as a finance and events coordinator for a U.S. Congressional Campaign.
Mr. Piellusch, who obtained a bachelor's degree in both accountancy and communications as well as an MBA in marketing, will add his skills and experience to the team.
Chemsil Silicones, Inc.: appointed Penny Nuntavong to the newly created position of marketing coordinator. She has been employed by Chemsil in a number of customer service and marketing roles for nine years. In addition, Chemsil Silicones has promoted Robert Griffiths to vice president, sales. He will continue to work with major personal care and cosmetic manufacturers and expand Chemsil’s domestic and international distributor/agent network.
Q Laboratories, Inc.: promoted Meghan McDonough to microbiology group leader at its Cincinnati-based testing laboratory. She has worked as a microbiologist at Q Laboratories since February 2007.
Mary Kay: appointed Beth Lange, Ph.D., as chief scientific officer. In her new position, Dr. Lange will serve as the technical liaison to Mary Kay’s 1.8 million independent sales force members worldwide, as well as represent the company in global trade associations and with the medical community. In addition, Dr. Lange will lead the product integrity organization, which includes quality, technical information and regulatory affairs.
Dr. Lange, who has been granted more than 20 U.S. and European patents, joined Mary Kay Inc. from Schering Plough Consumer Health. Her past positions also include management roles at Kimberly-Clark and Unilever.
Mansfield-King: hired Thomas Lehman as the vice president of research and development, heading up its growing laboratory capabilities. Mr. Lehman has a B.S. degree in microbiology and genetic biology from Purdue University.
MeadWestvaco Corporation (MWV): selected Thomas Jonas to lead the company’s personal and beauty care business. In his role, Mr. Jonas will focus on driving strategic growth strategies through product development and commercialization, expansion throughout new and existing markets, and efficient management of the business’s global manufacturing capabilities.
Mr. Jonas most recently served as general manager of Alcan Beauty Solutions and was a member of the executive board of directors for Alcan Fragrance & Cosmetic. Prior to joining Alcan, he held senior level consulting and management positions at A.T. Kearney and Olivier Hong Kong (a subsidiary of the LVMH group), and served as an officer at the Joint Planning Staff of the French Armed Forces.
Valois SAS: appointed Florent Lafond as global operations and supply chain vice president for its beauty and home division. He will be responsible for the production, industrialization and supply-chain functions and retain responsibility for the management of the Spanish subsidiary of Valois and business development in Asia in coordination with local AptarGroup teams.
Mr. Lafond joined Valois in 1991. After holding various positions in production, project management and logistics, he was appointed vice president of the supply chain for the perfumery and cosmetics division of Valois in 2006.
Strahl & Pitsch Inc.: hired Veronique Rossow as director of research. This newly-expanded position will utilize Ms. Rossow’s experience in product design and formulation.
The Personal Care Product Council: named Mark Pollak interim chief executive officer. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Pollak was executive vice president strategic initiatives and secretary. He has been with The Council for 25 years.
The Body Shop: named Phil Kowalczyk as president of the Americas region, responsible for the company's growth in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He joins The Body Shop from women’s apparel specialty brand Talbots, Inc. where he was chief operating officer, and J.Jill, where he held the role of president.
Maurer & Wirtz: hired a new managing director. On Jan. 1, Johannes Verhoog became the head of the family-owned company that was founded in 1845. His predecessor, Bert Lehnen, stepped down after more than 40 years with the company. He will remain available as a consultant for brand and corporate strategies. Mr. Verhoog will lead Maurer & Wirtz jointly with managing partner Dr. Hermann Wirtz.
Natural Health Trends Corporation: appointed Linda Lucas Padilla senior vice president of marketing. In this newly created role, Ms. Padilla will be the company’s principal marketing executive responsible for strategic global marketing support, company branding, product marketing and development, recognition, incentive and event planning.
As the former vice president of global marketing for Mannatech, Ms. Padilla has held numerous executive positions within the direct selling industry during the past two decades with Aerus Electrolux, Beauticontrol and Priceless Legacy.
Procter & Gamble: named Robert L. Fregolle, Jr., global customer business development officer, reporting to Werner Geissler, vice chairman, global operations. Mr. Fregolle replaces Mariano Martin, who will retire effective June 30 after 33 years of service.

Bettyconfidential.com: added Lois Joy Johnson to its team. Ms. Johnson, a beauty and fashion expert with more than 25 years of experience, has come on board as style and beauty editor for the women’s website.
Ms. Johnson most recently served as beauty and fashion Director for More magazine, where she worked with Betty’s editor-in-chief, Myrna Blyth, from 1998 to 2008. Ms. Johnson also worked with Ms. Blyth at Ladies’ Home Journal. She also has appeared on numerous television shows.
Merz Pharmaceuticals: appointed Steve Hamm, formerly of Glaxo Dermatology, as senior director of marketing for medical dermatology. A 23-year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Hamm’s experience includes working with large and small pharmaceutical companies as well as a start-up biotechnology company. He spent 10 years in progressive sales and marketing positions with Glaxo’s Dermatology division.
Colomer USA: reported three organizational assignments within the company. The vice president of sales position of Colomer USA Salon Division will be filled by Barry Holmes, currently vice president of sales for its nail design company, CND. In the same time frame, Jacquie Johnson, currently senior vice president of marketing, CND, will assume the role of vice president of sales, CND. Additionally, CND’s global marketing effort will be led by Kimberley Natale, vice president of marketing.
Water-Jel: appointed Michael Lorelli as chief executive officer, bringing extensive management experience to the company. He served as a PepsiCo division president twice, and also as executive vice president for their beverage sector. For the last 12 years, Mr. Lorelli held chief executive officer assignments for private equity portfolio companies.
The company also tapped Herb Baer as chief marketing officer and vice president, consumer sales. A seasoned marketing and sales veteran, he has two decades of experience with Fuji Photo Film U.S., where he held vice president level marketing and sales roles within the company.
Berjé Inc.: appointed William J. Ludlum as vice president of business development. At Berjé, he will assume several sales management functions, including the identification of additional merger and acquisition candidates for the company. He has more than 30 years experience in the flavors and fragrance industry, previously serving as president of Frutarom North America and president of the Aroma Chemical Division at Haarmann & Reimer. Mr. Ludlum began his career at Givaudan, where he served in a variety of positions.
He graduated from Merrimack College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and received a master’s degree in finance and management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mr. Ludlum also participated in Notre Dame’s Bayer Management Development Program.
