The New York Chapter of the Society Cosmetic Chemists will hold its Spring Seminar April 5 at the Pleasantdale Château in West Orange, NJ.
This all-day seminar begins at 8:15 a.m. with registration following by a discussion of "Science-based Botanicals with Cosmetic Applications" by Ilya Raskin. Dick Riseling will then dicuss “Personal Sustainability at Home and at Work” and Diana Eignorwill present “Personal Care Product Contaminants in Water." The final presentation before the lunch break is Shoshana (Malis) Arad’s dicussion “Novel Biochemicals from Red Microalgae: From the Lab to the Market.”
Afternoon topics will include “Studies on Agarwood through a Combination of Field Surveys and Lab Experiments” by Michiho Ito, “Innovative Processes for the Sustainable Production of Surfactants and Emollient Esters” by Anna Howe and “Palm Oil, Orangutans and Sustainability: A Beauty Industry Call to Action with the Orangutan Foundation International (OFI)” by Birutė Galdikas.
The cost for the seminar, incuding coffee breaks and lunch, is $50 for members and $100 for non-members. Faculty tickets $25 and students are admitted for $10. The umemployed are free of charge, according to NYSCC.
