French luxury perfume house Fragrance Du Bois has entered into a multi-year agreement with new skincare and accessories company Oud Essentials. Over the next three years, Fragrance Du Bois will be supplying approximately $50 million worth of its signature pure oud oil, along with its anti-aging and wellness products, Oud Essentials, billed as a brand that is aiming to “change the face of skincare.”
Fragrance Du Bois and Oud Essentials have entered into a 15-year, rolling, exclusive supply and manufacturing agreement that further enhances the ethos of vertical integration that has become such a key component in an industry-leading business model.
With initial production of its products in Switzerland, the UK, Singapore and Malaysia, Oud Essentials will be taking delivery of $8 million in merchandise in July 2017.
The brainchild of galenic pharmacist Jean-Marc Dufat, Oud Essentials is now producing a range of skin care products and accessories that will contain 100% pure, organic, sustainably sourced and ethically produced oud.
For the last five years, Fragrance Du Bois' scientific advisory board has been looking into oud’s “multifarious uses and efficacies,” the company said in a press statement. In 2015, Dufat suggested a collaboration that would involve oud being utilized in skin.
Sourced from the same sustainable supply chain from which Fragrance Du Bois obtains its oud, the Oud Essentials' range of products will include serums, and creams that are suitable for all skin conditions and all ages. The line will also include a dual-phase oil that combines the very best of aqueous and oil-based formulations for remarkable results, said the company.
All the oud used in the Oud Essentials range of products is sustainably sourced, ethically produced and has full approval and certification from CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
