Pantene’s 2020 PRIDE initiative includes a partnership with Dresscode Project that joins them in their mission of making more salons a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community.
Pantene, a Procter & Gamble brand, is offering eight salons $10,000 to support their business and enable changes that lift up the LGBTQ+ community (salon owners can be nominated via Instagram). In addition, Pantene is also donating $30,000 to the Dresscode Project which will allow salon owners and stylists to become Dresscode Project members for free.
As a brand that has studied hair for decades, Pantene has found that hair is the number one attribute women feel expresses who they really are and that for many in the LGBTQ+ community, hair plays a pivotal role in their “transformation moment.” Some 60% of LGBTQ+ persons surveyed changed their hair when they had a life/identity change. But, for many, receiving a style that truly celebrates and expresses their identity is not so easy. In fact, a recent study found that 93% of all transgender women in the UK have said they were not comfortable going to the salon the first time - and we believe that is true in the US and beyond.
Dresscode Project was started in 2017.
