Hydrachrysum from Seppic is described as an innovative moisturizer that breaks the inflammation/dryness cycle that afflicts dry skin. The material is said to be “bio-inspired” by Helichyrsum stoechas, a plant which adapts to its arid ecosystem. Using its Celtosome biotechnology platform, Seppic researchers created Hydrachrysum, which has been shown to both decrease pro-inflammation and increase pro-resolutive mediators. Moreover, at 1% use levels, application of Hydrachrysum increased the number of lacunae by 82% versus a placebo. Lacunae act as extracellular water tanks that represent up to 40% of the stratum corneum’s volume.
Seppic also published new data that demonstrates its plant-based, biodegradable and microbiota-friendly emollient, Emogreen L19, improves the balance of the dry skin microbiota, creating a hydrolipidic film on skin. In a study, 91% of volunteers reported a decrease in cutaneous discomfort after one month of treatment.
Seppic released data on its “bio-inspired” emollient, Montanov 202, which creates stable, robust liquid crystals. Montanov 202’s lamellar bilayer strengthens the skin barrier function by inserting itself within the stratum corneum lipids lamellar structure.
