The US Centers for Disease Control issued another warning to consumers to avoid drinking hand sanitizer after 15 adults were hospitalized in New Mexico and Arizona for drinking methanol-based sanitizer. Four of the patients died, according to the CDC.
After investigating 62 calls to poison centers in both states, CDC found 13 of the 15 cases were male and all of them had a history of swallowing alcohol-based hand sanitizers. All 15 were between the ages of 21 and 65.
