Exponent Beauty is a new brand billing itself as source of self-activated, fresh clinical skincare. The brand says that unlike traditional water-based formulas that start degrading right after they are manufactured, its serums maintain their efficacy. A patented self-activator system dispenses a precise dose of active powder and a“Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator” to create a freshly-whipped serum with a light gel-cream texture.
Conceived by Liz Whitman, a former president and CMO of The Red Door by Elizabeth Arden, Exponent Beauty says pre-bottled skincare can degrade up to 40% in just eight weeks.
"Our mission at Exponent is to raise the bar for effective skincare, and not just focus on what our products are free of, but what they're full of," said Whitman in a release. "We know this is a category that needs more transparency and education around clinical efficacy and we're excited to advocate for a higher standard – because skincare shouldn't be pre-mixed, watered down, or bottled up."
To that end, the brand sells an Exponent Vitamin C Test Kit to help beauty consumers measure ingredient potency of their skincare products easily at-home. The kit comes with 10 test strips and the corresponding guide to read the results.
Exponent is backed by Founders Fund, Unilever Ventures, SugarCap, Flybridge Capital and Bullish, as well as strategic beauty industry execs and entrepreneurs.
The company is also a certified B Corporation.
