According to the Cosmetify Index, which ranks the world’s biggest beauty brands based on their social engagement and following, Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Sally Beauty were the top three beauty retailers in 2022.
Cosmetify used a range of factors, this time including organic web traffic for each retailer’s website in the last year, Instagram followers, hashtag mentions, and engagement rates.
Sephora and Ulta Beauty are dominant figures when it comes to US beauty retailers, which can be seen in the fact that both of them came top for two out of four factors. Sephora commands the largest cache of Instagram followers at 21 millions; Ulta Beauty trailed at just 7 million. However, based on data from Cosmetify, Ulta had greater monthly organic traffic. The rest of the top 10 are: Soko Glam, FragranceNet.com, Beautylish, Credo, Bluemercury, Dermstore and The Detox Market.
