Emmanuel Butstraen has been named as the president of DSM-Firmenich’s perfumery and beauty business. Butstraen will assume the role on July 1, following a comprehensive handover from Ilaria Resta, who is leaving the company.
Resta, who was named the president of the beauty unit in February, is leaving DSM-Firmenich to become CEO of Audemars Piguet, a luxury watch maker.
Butstraen will report to Co-CEO Dimitri de Vreeze and retain his chief integration officer role.
Since May 2022, Butstraen has been playing an instrumental role in successfully driving the merger of dsm-firmenich, and owing to his efforts, all integration planning activities have been set up to be executed across the organization. He will continue overseeing the integration while taking on the global leadership role of perfumery and beauty.
Prior to his appointment as chief integration officer, Butstraen served as the president of taste and beyond at Firmenich since 2018. He also brings extensive experience in the personal care sector, having previously served as the president of Solvay's Novecare global business unit. Before that, he spent 17 years at BASF, where he held the position of strategy SVP of the agricultural products division. He holds a degree in agricultural engineering and an MBA from the University of Lille, France.
DSM-Firmenich began operations earlier this month at which it announced a change in the CEO structure.
