Moen researchers decided it was high time take a gander at what Americans are doing in the shower—and it turns out much more than lather, rinse and repeat.
The washroom fixtures maker, which says it is the No. 1 consumer faucet brand in North America, peeked behind the shower curtain to discover Americans' showering secrets. According to Moen 2023 Showering Behaviors Survey:
• 80% of women shave their legs in the shower and 18% of men shave their legs in the shower occasionally
• 23.1% brush their teeth while showering
• Approximately 20% clean the shower as they're using it—and some even washing clothes while they shower
• 15% have showered with their pet
• 9% admitted to using a smartphone
(Editor's note: we are not sure if anyone admitted to prepping a salad....)
According to the Moen survey, 96% of Americans consider a shower as a primary form of self-care and 71% said that it improves their mood.
The survey also found that Americans are willing to invest in their showerhead to create that ultimate self-care moment, with 40% saying they would spend more than $50 to improve their showering experience.
Moen sells plumbing shardware like rainshowers and customizable spray settings as well as aromatherapy systems for bathrooms and kitchens.
The Moen 2023 Showering Behaviors Survey was conducted June 19, 2023, among 1,000 US residents aged 18 and up. The survey had a margin of error of +/- 2%, according to Moen.
