The Credo Board of Directors has appointed Credo cofounder and COO, Annie Jackson to CEO.
Jackson replaces Stuart Millar, who joined in early 2022, and vacated the role to pursue another opportunity.
Under Jackson’s direction, Credo will continue to pursue long-term growth and expansion via store openings within current and new markets while also accelerating innovation within the company’s in-house brands, Exa, Follain, and EleVen by Venus Williams.
“Annie’s tremendous passion, people-first leadership style, and deep industry experience uniquely position her to lead Credo into its next phase of growth,” said Tiffany Obenchain, managing partner of NextWorld Evergreen, the consumer growth equity fund that backs Credo. “Credo has significantly invested in its management team over the last six months, and we are excited to see this new team, under Annie’s leadership, fulfill Credo’s mission in new and meaningful ways.”
Jackson, who cofounded Credo in 2015, has grown the business from a single store on San Francisco’s famed Fillmore Street to a “beacon” for brand founders creating cleaner, more sustainable products. Today, the brand operates a robust digital business and 15 stores, including newly opened stores in Venice Beach, California, and Seattle, Washington that boast a new, sophisticated interior design that aims to reimagine a new era of clean beauty retail experience.
Recently unveiling a refreshed digital storefront, Credobeauty.com now boasts upgraded technology to improve performance, security, and scalability alongside an elevated visual aesthetic and enhanced navigation.
Senior Leadership Team Additions
Jackson’s appointment comes on the heels of the addition of experienced senior leaders aimed at bolstering the company’s management team.
Boma Brown-West, whose career spans over 15 years of sustainable leadership that includes 10 years at the Environmental Defense Fund, joined the company in July as the vice president of sustainability impact.
Rie Maiden joined in August as the vice president of marketing and e-commerce following five years at the Estée Lauder Companies where she led marketing initiatives for Jo Malone London and La Mer.
Most recently, Derek Browe joined as chief financial officer following CFO roles at Thursday Boots, Bandier and UNTUCKit.
