Symrise has lost an appeal against the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) decision in regards to animal testing on cosmetics ingredients.
According to reports, the decision pertains to two sunscreen ingredients: homosalate and 2-ethylhexyl salicylate. These components are already approved and used exclusively in sunscreens.
The ruling noted that animal tests must be carried out under REACH when no other non-animal alternatives are available, said the reports.
