The Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) – China’s choice sourcing platform for the global personal care industry – concluded its 2024 edition.
Spanning 56,000 square meters and boasting 785 exhibitors representing more than 27 countries and regions, the event drew more than 30,000 attendees including international visitors from over 70 countries and regions.
Industry Trends and Advancements
Leading ingredient suppliers like Givaudan, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, and Provital took the spotlight on the show’s opening day with the worldwide debut of new products.
Innovations and technologies were showcased across the event’s feature areas including the New Products Showcase, Beauté Gourmet, and Sustainability Zone. The New Technology Sessions also featured exhibitors with their latest offerings.
The PCHi Fountain Awards was first introduced in 2017 to encourage technological innovations within the industry. This year, the organizers received 221 product submissions and 20 engineer submissions, marking a significant 40% increase in innovative product applications compared to the previous year. This increase highlights global cosmetic ingredient suppliers’ interest in the Chinese market.
At the PCHi Annual Industry Conference 2024, more than 200 speakers attracted close to 6,000 delegates. The line-up of educational conference sessions offered insights and showcased the latest industry innovations from cosmetic formulations to rules and regulations, market trends and medical aesthetics.
Three key insights emerged from these sessions: companies’ proclivity to elevate the scientific rigor and quality of popular ingredients; growing consumer preference for natural ingredients and plant-derived raw materials as reflected in the market's desire for safe, natural, and mild solutions that meet requirements for anti-allergy options; and the demand for sustainability driven by government decarbonization efforts, which has led to environmentally friendly practices within the personal care and cosmetics industry.
"PCHi is a significant event in the cosmetics industry that has been instrumental for the introduction of our company and our synthetic biological technology to a global audience,” said Dr. Yanfeng ZHANG, chairman's scientific assistant, head of innovation R&D Center, and senior scientist at Siyomicro. “But more importantly, we've successfully forged valuable customer connections during our time at the trade show. Moving forward, we aim to leverage PCHi as a platform to pursue new avenues for business growth through more strategic partnerships and collaborations."
Long-time exhibitor and stalwart supporter of PCHi, Ashland, echoes that sentiment.
“PCHi stands out as a pivotal platform for the personal care industry in Asia, particularly in China, solidifying its position as our preferred industry event for product launches,” said Lynn ning, personal care marketing director, Asia Pacific, at Ashland. “This year's exhibition echoed the vibrancy of previous editions, drawing a diverse influx of visitors from across the globe. PCHi is a comprehensive multi-dimension platform, catering to the varied needs of brand owners, purchasing managers, technical experts, regulatory professionals, and stakeholders from every point of the beauty industry to jointly facilitate the exploration and embrace of emerging beauty trends.”
The next edition of PCHi will be held. 19-21, 2025 in Guangzhou at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.
