Too much, it seems, is never enough. The benefits of vitamin C are well established in skin care circles. More recently, cannabidiol (CBD) has been having its day in the cosmetics industry, too. Now, both ingredients get star-billing in BeautyStat’s new Universal C Eye Protector with CBD, which debuts this month. Like Oscar and Felix and Batman and Robin, the two ingredients are better together, according to company executives.
"Our exclusive time-release technology offers stable versions of these materials and is giving us unprecedented results—that is a good thing to me," said BeautyStat's Chief Scientific Officer Jules Zecchino who, during his 30-plus years in the beauty business has included time at Elizabeth Arden, Avon and Estée Lauder. "Our patented technology that stabilizes vitamin C, will also provide a stable base to the CBD to work synergistically without fear of decomposition."
According to BeautyStat data, vitamin C brightens, softens lines, fades dark circles and diminishes puffiness, while CBD provides the strongest anti-inflammatory protection fighting pollution and irritation, and minimizes redness. Although BeautyStat researchers did not compare the formula in a side by side test with and without CBD, they did test the final formula for efficacy.
"We can report that the formula is performing beyond the usual results and we believe that it’s caused by the boost from the CBD components," explained Zecchino. He added, however, that the hemp oil used has a characteristic odor, that is not acceptable to prestige facial skin care. To overcome that obstacle, BeautyStat's formula contains other essential oils that have therapeutic value to make the overall scent acceptable, according to Zecchino.
BeautyStat researchers noted that CBD is a natural, highly-effective anti-inflammatory as well as emollient. It is said to be particularly useful for people with sensitive skin, inflammation, redness and dehydration.
With L-ascorbic acid levels of 5%, the formula brightens, soothes and helps hydrate skin. It works synergistically with the anti-inflammatory capabilities of vitamin C and the calming, desensitizing properties of CBD, according to BeautyStat. The addition of EGCG helps defend against free radicals and pollution. The formula also contains hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate skin.
And to make the benefits of its new formula easy for the non-chemist to understand, BeautyStat will take an omnimedia approach, according to BeautyStat Founder and CEO Ron Robinson.
"Through animation and infographics, we will be showing how both our pure, patented, stable vitamin C and CBD work synergistically to comprehensively address all eye area concerns," he explained. Robinson founded influencer firm BeautyStat 10 years ago. Clients include Shiseido, Revlon and Coty. Prior to founding BeautyStat, he spent 15 years in the beauty indsutry at companies such as Estée Lauder, Avon and L'Oréal, where he worked as a cosmetic chemist and product development executive.
Specifically, the new campaign, BeautyStat will target eye cream users via social media, with a focus on Instagram and TikTok, as well as media relations, influencer marketing, email marketing and giveaways, according to Robinson.
With this latest launch, the BeautyStat formulas continue to generate momentum.
"Our customer base has more than doubled in the just the past few months which shows that in the crowded anti-aging space, we are filling a need gap with our patented vitamin C technology," explained Robinson.
Moving forward, Robinson said the brand will donating to various causes, specifically Black Lives Matter, that work to promote equal rights and prevent social and criminal injustices.
"Our universe has been good to us. It has been an incredible year since the launch of BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner and her sister product, Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream," noted Robinson. "Our potent and patented vitamin C-based serum, with 20% pure vitamin C, has been embraced by influencers, celebrities, and consumers who are all impressed with the results and their skin!"
Universal C Eye Protector with CBD retails for $65 (15ml). It is available at BeautyStat and Amazon.
