Nick Stenson is no stranger to beauty. The Chicago-based, award-winning celebrity stylist is also senior vice president, store and services operations for Ulta Beauty. Furthermore, Stenson is also a longstanding partner with L'Oréal USA as an educator, brand ambassador, stylist and influencer. He is known for keeping up with the latest hair care trends and sharing his expertise with the beauty community. So, why not take a step further and create some products?
Nick Stenson Beauty’s new hair care line—now available at Ulta Beauty, of course—is billed as a “consciously-created luxury beauty collection for the masses,” according to Stenson.
The new range includes a Volume Shampoo and Volume Conditioner; Moisture Shampoo and Moisture Conditioner; Root Lifter Spray; Smoothing Crème; Hydrating Oil; Leave-in Conditioner; Volume Crème; Light Hold Hair Spray and Texture Spray; and Dry Shampoo.
The collection of moisture-rich and volumizing hair care products were formulated to “heal, hydrate and strengthen all hair types with quality ingredients,” Stenson told Happi.
The line rolled out nationwide on ulta.com in November and expanded into the prestige hair assortment of select Ulta Beauty stores this week.
“With so much experience working in hair and beauty, I know what products perform well for every hair type,” Stenson said. “And I knew what we could do differently. So, every product in the Nick Stenson Beauty hair care collection is a hero product, to deliver the luxe experience and premium results everyone deserves.”
“The major trends in hair care products now are based around encouraging and/or repairing the health and strength of hair,” he told Happi. “Strong, healthy and shiny hair is the goal.”
Another essential ingredient in the hair care collection is creatine, which provides a first line of defense for restoring luster, manageability and volume to damaged hair, he added. A superfood ingredient cocktail of kale, carrot and lemon protein extract add antioxidants and nutrients. A blend of vitamin-filled jojoba oil provides strength, structure and hydration for hair.
“Nick Stenson Beauty is where nature meets luxury and I am thrilled to unveil my hair care collection to and through my Ulta Beauty family,” Stenson added. “As someone who has devoted my life and career to helping others see their beauty, it was important to me to create a sustainable hair care line using the most innovative and ethically sourced ingredients that empower everyone to be confident in their own hair and help reach its full potential.”
Influenced by Stenson’s global travel experience and beauty industry expertise, the hair care line is also cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny certified and meets four out of five Conscious Beauty at Ulta Beauty pillars. Additionally, they are free of parabens, sodium chloride, gluten and soy.
“I’m so proud and delighted to welcome Nick Stenson Beauty to our assortment,” commented Monica Arnaudo, chief merchandising officer at Ulta Beauty. “Nick has been a pillar of inspiration, innovation and empowerment for our company and industry, so it’s exciting to see him branch out and invite guests to experience what we at Ulta Beauty have been fortunate to know all these years. With clean, conscious formulas and luxurious results, we have no doubt our beauty enthusiasts will adore his products as much as we do.”
Stenson first joined Ulta Beauty in 2016 as the company’s first chief artistic director, then soon assembled and continues to lead the Ulta Beauty Pro Team, the salon industry’s first ongoing collaboration of individual, brand-affiliated beauty artists.
A second-generation hair stylist, Stenson has built his career and life around a mantra of “I see your beauty.”
“While healthy hair is the renewed standard, in 2023 we will continue to see a focus on removing the unnecessary ingredients from products to simplify them as well as a continued move toward environmentally-conscious packaging,” he told Happi. “Customization and versatility in products will continue to be a focus as well.”

Aloe Vera Gel & More Superfood Ingredients
All products in the Nick Stenson Beauty hair care collection contain aloe vera gel as the key ingredient. Naturally healing, aloe vera contains vitamins A, C, E, and B-12 and high levels of plant-based collagen to strengthen the hair and prevent breakage while it hydrates, protects and enhances the quality and feel of the hair, said Stenson.“The major trends in hair care products now are based around encouraging and/or repairing the health and strength of hair,” he told Happi. “Strong, healthy and shiny hair is the goal.”
