“Inspire. Innovate. Celebrate.” That's the underlying theme of NYSCC Suppliers' Day. That theme will be evident throughout the Javits Center next week, according to NYSCC Chair Amber O. Evans. At a recent press conference to promote Suppliers' Day, Evans promised inspiration will be leveraged from all sources to influence innovation in beauty and personal care. The NYSCC Chapter’s 70-year legacy will be celebrated along with all that the industry creates and has accomplished.
"The exhibit floor is sold out, making NYSCC Suppliers' Day 2024 the biggest event in the show’s 45-year history," noted Evans. "There will be more than 570 companies showcasing everything from novel ingredients, formulas, processing, advanced scientific testing equipment and more."
The keynote speaker on the main stage on May 2 will be Qian Zheng. MD/PhD, senior vice president and head of Advanced Research North America & Global Regenerative Beauty Discovery Domain at L’Oreal. She will discuss “The Green Sciences Revolution: L'Oréal's Commitment to Sustainable Innovation,” in a conversation with a beauty editor from Women’s Wear Daily. Also new this year on the exhibit floor is Inspiration Zone, featuring more than a dozen breakthrough innovations that were selected from worldwide ingredients and formulations suppliers. Attendees will be able to touch and feel ingredients that offer luxuriously sensorial textures yet are biodegradable; next generation retinols, and clean multitasking preservatives to name to name a few of the inspiring innovations on display.
"Highlights in the educational program, that is made possible by so many of you media partners here in this room, include: Three sessions presented by our Scientific Advisory Committee on “Hair: Inspiration & Innovation,” Biotechnology in Beauty & Personal Care and Inspiration & Innovation in NutriCosmetics," explained Evans.
Two lunch and learns focus on The Future of the Cosmetic Industry: Challenges & Opportunities, and Fragrance: The Invisible Art. NYSCC is also partnering with CACPA again for a technical program on advancements within the Chinese beauty industry.
PCPC and IKW will present Cosmetic Regulation: Building Successful Compliance, and IBA is taking the helm of the Indie 360 conference program that covers every angle to being a successful independent beauty brand.
Hallmarks of Suppliers’ Day educational program will return with updated content including: Discover Sustainability, World of Chemistry, Microbiome: Inside Out Beauty and two all-day, pre-event SCC CEP Courses on Beginning Cosmetic Chemistry and Advanced Skin Science.
More programs that will provide product launch intelligence and future inspiration include From California with Love: Innovating in a Complex Regulatory Landscape; Innovations from the Inspiration Zone; Rooted in Beauty: Exploring Latina Heritage and Ingredient Innovation in Beauty Brands; Beauty Innovation in 2024; Sustainable Development in the Cosmetic Sector; Truth in Beauty – Meet the Sci Comm Influencers; Unlocking Otherwordly Beauty with Tech and AI; and the Innovations Theater featuring exhibitors’ innovations.
"The Indie360 Pavilion is back with 16 companies participating and spotlighting Latina beauty founder companies," noted Evans. "The Technical Poster Showcase returns with the latest scientific findings and breakthroughs on display and scheduled sessions with the authors."
Evans urged Suppliers’ Day attendees to visit the Plug-In To Inspiration Charging Station that will feature a look in the rear view mirror to the decades of inspiration spearheaded by the NYSCC and then the Head Shot Studio and share what is inspiring you at Suppliers’ Day to be featured on our digital wall.
"I am also proud of NYSCC Suppliers’ Day continued commitment to educating and supporting students and young professionals," said Evans. "Our Future Chemists Workshop (FCW), with a record number of students this year, is a unique opportunity for them to learn about formulation science and ingredients, and to gain hands-on lab experience. Coming full circle, this year’s speaker Jane Tsui, a leading online influencer on cosmetic science was one of the first students of the Future Chemists Workshop, nearly a decade ago."
The NYSCC Awards Night celebration, “The Future of Beauty,” takes place at Lavan Midtown on May 1. According to Evans, it will be a Met Gala-inspired event filled with experiential art, Afro Latin culture and Modern History performances.
"The eight finalists of the CEW Beauty Supplier’s Award will be revealed and acknowledges the important drivers of innovation that exemplify the core spirit of Suppliers’ Day!" said Evans. "As you can see, there is truly something for everyone at Suppliers’ Day!"
