Editor-in-Chief
L’Oréal’s cache of intellectual property continues to expand. This week, the beauty giant was awarded new patents related to an aqueous peelable makeup remover, a composition with high amount of ceramide-NP, and a makeup setting mousse.
Here are the three patents in more detail:
US Patent No. 12,090,216 B2 (Tianyi Liu, Koji Endo, Prabhjot K. Saini); L’Oréal has patented an aqueous makeup removing composition comprising acrylates/stearyl methacrylate copolymer; hydrophilic film forming polymer selected from polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, or mixtures thereof; a volatile hydrocarbon oil; a nonionic surfactant selected from polyglycerolated fatty acid esters; a monoalcohol having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms; and water.
US Patent No. 12,090,224 B2 (Jonathan James Faig, Susan Halpern Chirch, Angelike Galdi, Yon Jae Yoon, David Chan); L’Oréal has patented a cosmetic composition comprising approximately 0.5-5 wt.% of ceramide NP; 50-80 wt.% of water; one or more first emulsifiers chosen from polyglycerol-based emulsifiers; one or more second emulsifiers chosen from glyceryl esters having an HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) of approximately 3-6; one or more third emulsifiers chosen from ethoxylated fatty acids, one or more fatty alcohols, and one or more non-triglyceride and non-aromatic fatty compounds.
This composition, which is an oil-in-water emulsion, does not visually phase separate or form visibly observable particulates for at least 8 weeks in storage at 4-45°C.
US Patent No. 12,090,217 B2 (Roselin Rosario-Melendez, Stan Najmr, Anne-Laure Bernard); L’Oréal patented method of treating keratinous substrates that entails applying a makeup setting composition to a keratinous substrate having makeup formed thereon, wherein the makeup setting composition has a gas phase dispersed in a condensed phase. The condensed phase comprises a water-soluble or water-dispersible film former. The makeup setting composition is produced by actuating a packaged that includes a mousse-forming composition comprising the water-soluble or water-dispersible film former. The mousse-forming composition comprises less than about 2% by weight of colorant.
