“The Little Mermaid” renaissance continues to float on three years after the remake of the beloved 1989 animated classic, starring Halle Bailey, with a makeup collection with Colourpop.
The cosmetics brand is capturing the contrast between life on land and sea through playful pastels, bold ocean hues, duochrome finishes, Super Shock and new Chrome finishes. New multichrome highlighters inspired by Disney’s Flounder and Sebastian deliver a color-shifting, iridescent, mermaid-scale appearance, while a new two-toned Glowy Lip Oil delivers a “sparkling clear” sheen. What’s more, as a treasure trove, (a nod to the film), formulas are housed in keepsake-worthy packaging.
Under the Sea Eyeshadow Palette, $22, is a 12-pan palette that blends soft romantic pinks with vibrant aquatic blues and teals, inspired by Ariel’s underwater world and her discovery of life on land. Shimmering finishes mimic sunlight on water, balanced with wearable mattes for both fantasy and everyday looks.
Lip Kits, $16, are inspired by Disney’s Ariel and Ursula and define lips with Lippie Pencil, then fill in with Lippie Stix for full-coverage color.
Part of Your World Kit contains a Wanderin’ Free Lippie Pencil in warm red and Princess Ariel Lippie Stix in orangey red with a Matte X finish.
The Ocean Will Be Mine Kit is a deep berry plum shade inspired by Disney’s Ursula’s dramatic and commanding presence.
