Weekly Recap: Unilever’s Plans to Exit Food Tops the List

Review our list of leading headlines for week ended April 4, 2026.

Unilever’s plans to merge its food operations with McCormick & Company and focus solely on beauty, home and personal care, was the most-read headline for the week ended April 4, 2026.

By casting off its food operations, which includes high-profile brands like Hellman’s mayo and Knorr soup mix, Unilever will become a pureplay HPC company with revenues of €39 billion.

Another benefit: more focus.

Following the separation, Unilever said it would have a “scaled R&D backbone to accelerate disruptive premium innovation, built on common science and technology platforms—in areas such as formulation design, microbiome, surfactants, fragrances and packaging design—alongside shared digital and AI-led discover and design, regulatory and laboratory infrastructure.”
