Haircare brands are focusing on creating fertile grounds for the scalp. One of them is dermatologist-founded UK-based haircare brand Rhute.

“Hair isn’t just a part of you, it’s what makes you, you.” So goes the philosophy of Dr. Aamna Adel, founder of Rhute Haircare. Adel – who completed her training at Oxford University Hospitals and holds membership of the Royal College of Physicians, with research published both nationally and internationally – specializes in hair loss across all ages. The brand grew from Adel’s own trials with hair loss and fruitless search for the right product.

“As a consultant dermatologist specializing in hair loss, I’ve seen firsthand how it affects confidence and wellbeing,” said Adel. “After personally experiencing hair loss myself, I explored every product on the market, and nothing performed the way I wanted. My patients felt the same. So, I set out to develop formulations grounded in peer-reviewed dermatological research that genuinely supports hair health. Rhute is for everyone, at every stage of their hair journey. Healthy hair, from Rhute to tip.”

Rhute’s bestseller is Density + Repair Hair Growth Scalp Serum is engineered to activate and optimize the scalp environment for fuller looking hair. It’s powered by caffeine, bioactive peptides, stem cell extracts and niacinamide to target each stage of the hair cycle. Lauded by consumer magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire, it is clinically proven to increase hair density and reduce shedding in eight weeks, according to the brand.

Pumpkin seed oil is a key ingredient in the Triple Density Complex Pre-Wash Scalp Oil.

Rhute offers a Dermastamp Scalp Microneedling Tool that uses a 0.3-millimeter medical grade, 24K gold-plated needles to stimulate dormant follicles and boost circulation and topical treatment absorption. The tool also promotes blood flow, activates dormant follicles ad stimulates growth factors.

Rhute’s latest innovation, Triple Density Complex Pre-Wash Scalp Oil, was inspired by the need to prepare the scalp before cleansing to create optimal conditions for healthier, denser-looking hair over time.

“While concerns like thinning can become more noticeable with age, scalp dryness, buildup and overall scalp concerns can affect anyone,” Adel told Happi. “This product is designed for anyone looking to support long-term scalp and hair health.”

Hybrid Treatment System

Triple Density Complex Pre-Wash Scalp Oil is designed as a hybrid treatment system that works on both the scalp and the hair in one step. By applying it before cleansing, it helps loosen buildup, support the scalp barrier and prepare the scalp for a more effective cleanse without being overly stripping. It’s packed with ingredients like pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto and beta-sitosterol help address DHT-related shedding, while rosemary extract and black seed oil support follicle stimulation and overall hair density. Ceramides and bisabolol help support the scalp barrier and soothe irritation, which is essential for maintaining overall scalp health. A blend of conditioning oils helps nourish both the scalp and strands while enhancing delivery of these actives.

DHT can bind to receptors in the scalp and contribute to hair follicle miniaturization in those who are genetically predisposed. Triple Density Complex Pre-Wash Scalp Oil includes ingredients selected to support overall scalp health and reduce the impact of external and internal stressors that can influence this process, Adel said. Simultaneously, it helps support the scalp barrier and maintain hydration, which is essential for overall scalp function.

A model demonstrates the efficacy of the hybrid treatment system.

“Rather than targeting one pathway in isolation, the approach is holistic, supporting the scalp as a complete ecosystem,” said Adel.

Rhute’s Density Complex contains castor oil, which, according to a recent report from Spate, is growing at 2,100% YoY in hair care searches driven by consumer interest in hair and facial hair growth.

For Adel, ingredient selection is based on functionality over what’s trending on TikTok.

“While castor oil has gained popularity, it is included in a very small amount within the formula for its functional benefits rather than trend appeal,” she explained. “The formulation was carefully balanced to ensure it supports moisture retention and overall scalp conditioning without creating heaviness or contributing to buildup. The focus throughout development was on selecting ingredients based on scientific rationale, efficacy and how they work synergistically together within the overall formula.”

Lightweight and silky, it is designed to spread easily across the scalp without feeling heavy or greasy, absorb during the treatment phase and wash out cleanly. What’s more, the formula is fragrance-free, making it suitable for sensitive scalps and aligns with a more clinical, skin-first approach to haircare, the brand asserts.

Adel recommends gently massaging the product into the scalp for a few minutes to ensure even distribution and to help stimulate circulation. It can then be left on for at least 1 hour, or longer if preferred, before washing. According to a user survey conducted by the brand, 94% said their scalp was less dry.

“By improving hydration and supporting the scalp barrier, the formula can help reduce dryness and flaking associated with an imbalanced scalp,” she said. “While dandruff can have multiple causes, maintaining a healthy scalp environment is key, and this product supports that foundational step.”
