World Skin Health Day (July 8), a global awareness day led by the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD), sponsored by CeraVe, has returned.

This year’s theme, “Better Knowledge. Better Skin Health,” focuses on improving access to skin health education and dermatological care worldwide.

To help address the gap in care, CeraVe is partnering with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) to expand access to dermatological care for uninsured and underinsured communities. Through this partnership, volunteer dermatologists will work with free and charitable clinics across the country to provide free skin checks for uninsured and underinsured patients; dermatology education resources; and training opportunities to strengthen care in underserved communities.

Creating Sustainable Access to Dermatological Care

The initiative helps CeraVe help close a critical gap in access to health care. Globally, more than 3 billion people lack access to proper dermatological care and 1.8 billion people are impacted by skin disease. Some communities have fewer than one dermatologist per one million people, officials said.

For many uninsured and underinsured individuals, free skin checks can help identify concerning conditions early and connect patients with needed follow-up care. While World Skin Health Day helps raise awareness, CeraVe views the initiative as part of a broader, year-round commitment. The brand is working to create more sustainable access to high-quality dermatological care in underserved communities.

As part of World Skin Health Day, qualifying patients can receive free skin consultations at participating NAFC Clinics in cities including Dallas, TX; Cliffside Park, NJ; Orange, CA and more. During these appointments, volunteer dermatologists conduct free skin checks, answer patients’ questions and provide guidance on when follow-up care is needed.
