The Society Mourns LossOf Theresa Cesario
• Theresa “Terry” Cesario, executive director of the Society of Cosmetics Chemists (SCC), died Jan. 16. She was 66 years old.
Cesario worked with the Society for the past three decades. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, John; two sons, John and Peter; two daughters, SuzanneMcCarren and Catherine Cesario, and eight grandchildren.
“We have lost a good friend as well as an outstanding leader who fought relentlessly for the benefit of the SCC and all its members,” the Society said in a statement on its website.
“Terry was a true professional and her service went well beyond the call of duty. Terry was an outstanding leader, friend and above all a wonderful woman. Her presence and influence will be sorely missed by all.”
NYSCC Names 2010Scholarship Winners
• TheNew York Chapter of SCC announced its 2010 scholarship winners. They are: Grace Caskey, daughter of Paul Caskey of Morre-Tec Industries (Sal Gimelli Scholarship); Haga Dayan, daughter of Nava Davan of Lipo Chemicals (Henry Maso Scholarship); and Danae DeBlasi, daughter of Doug DeBlasi (NYSCC Scholarship).
Introduction to PolymerScience in CosmeticsCourse Is March 3-4
• On March 3-4, SCC will hold a course providing an introduction to polymer science and its application in the cosmetic industry. The course will be held at the Sheraton Newark Airport Hotel, Newark, NJ;instructors are Robert Lochhead, Susan Jordan and Michael Fevola.
The course will address the need to introduce formulators and suppliers to cosmetic polymers; it will be pragmatic, but polymer science theory will be woven into the applications, according to SCC.

SCS’s Annual ScientificSymposium is April 10-11
• The Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) will hold its fourth annual scientific symposium April 10-11 at the Four Pillars Hotel in South Glourcestershire, UK. “Sustainability—A Cosmetic Paradox?” is the theme of this year’s event.
Tabletop exhibition space is available, according to SCS.
