The 38th Annual Suppliers' Day will have a prominent sustainability focus, according to The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC). The event, May 2-3, 2017, takes place at the Jacob K. Convention Center in New York. Attendees will be able to learn about the latest sustainable ingredient and formulation trends through product innovations on display, interactive workshops, dedicated content and global expert speakers. “NYSCC’s mission for 2017 is to strengthen the cosmetic chemists knowledge of sustainability and its impact on product development. In February we hosted a Focus on Sustainability workshop and at Suppliers’ Day, sustainability themes will be woven throughout the event with topical content, interactive workshops, and green, natural and sustainable products and services from award-winning international companies on display,” said Marie Thadal, chair/president, NYSCC Executive Board. The sustainability features at Suppliers’ Day include: • Discover Sustainability @ Suppliers’ Day 2017– On May 3rd in the Presentation Theater on the exhibit floor, Suppliers’ Day will feature short, educational sessions highlighting sustainability on a global scale and consumers’ growing interest in consuming and purchasing these types of products. Sustainability experts including Jadir Nunes, Consultant, Scientific Learning & Innovation Consulting (Brazil) and Professor Hong Meng, MD (China) will be joined by award-winning exhibitors who are breaking ground in sustainability initiatives including Alban Muller, Croda/Sederma, and Seppic Inc. • Sustainability Product Awards – Suppliers’ Day exhibitors submitted distinct raw material in advance that is or will be launched in 2017 and supports sustainability efforts. The NYSCC academic affairs committee will select three finalists in different categories and a panel of graduate students in a blind evaluation will choose the winners. The category winners’ will be announced at the Suppliers’ Day Awards Night Party on May 2nd at Stage 48 NYC. • Future Chemists Workshops – Students from top colleges and universities will be immersed in an all-day results-oriented challenge on how to become a Cosmetic Chemist. Students will be encouraged to work on formulations that resonate sustainability and winners will also be announced at the Awards Night Party on May 2. • Innovations Alley & Exhibit Floor – The latest ingredients, solutions and technology that are debuting in the US will be featured in Innovations Alley including sustainable business solutions. In addition, throughout the Suppliers’ Day exhibit floor, more than 400 companies will be exhibiting natural and responsibly sourced ingredients and raw materials, including a contingency of companies from France. Suppliers’ Day is the NYSCC flagship event and attracts nearly 8,000 participants working in R&D and product development for the biggest brand manufacturers in beauty and personal care as well as emerging independents. Exhibitors include the leading ingredient and raw materials suppliers as well as testing and quality control labs, machinery, packaging companies and professional service providers.
