It’s World Candle Month: National Candle Association Shares Trends

The theme for the season is Lighten The Mood with whimsical patterns such as butterflies and mushrooms on packaging.

For September 2022, the National Candle Association is rolling out a new campaign, Let's Lighten the Mood, for World Candle Month (WCM). WCM was established in 2013 by the association to showcase the various ways candles enrich consumers’ lives.

“This year, NCA selected the WCM theme of Lighten the Mood to reflect and reference our need for something “a bit lighter,” said Kathy LaVanier, NCA vice president. For additional information on WCM and the history of candles visit National Today’s celebration page.

LaVanier of the National Candle Association told Happi that while holiday does always drive more gift packaging, Fall 2022 will likely continue the “less is more” packaging trend—as will Spring 2023. Also, seasonal designs such as butterflies and mushroom patterns will emerge in 2023 for home fragrance packaging.

“The consumers that are younger than Boomers are looking for products that fit well with their décor,” said LaVanier.
