Evonik and Demetrix Sign Cannabinoids Accord

Will bring a CBG product to market this year.

Evonik and biotech company Demetrix, Berkeley, CA, have inked a supply agreement for cannabinoids to be used in beauty and personal care products. The first product, CBG (cannabigerol), will be entering the market in 2022.

“Evonik is a global leader in supplying innovative solutions to the beauty and personal care markets in more than 100 countries,” says Cynthia Bryant, Demetrix CBO. “This partnership speaks to the growing demand for high purity cannabinoids because of the benefits they can provide for consumers.”

Demetrix provides access to bioactive ingredients, including cannabinoids, that its research has shown to hold promise for health and wellness benefits. The company says it is pioneering the study of the more than 100 rare cannabinoids and their interactions with the human body.

Coupling Demetrix's production technology and Evonik's leadership position as a sustainable specialties partner to the top beauty and personal care brands, this multi-year relationship focuses on bringing cannabinoids to global markets, said Demetrix.
