Ceramides, Prickly Pear Fruit, Jelly Moisturizers Lead Whole Foods’ 2022 Trend Report

Consumers will also seek out mineral sun care and overnight hair masks, according to the natural personal care retailer.

In celebration of Whole Foods Market’s Beauty Week, experts from its Trends Council unveiled the natural retailer’s annual list of top 5 beauty trends for 2022:

Say Hi to Ceramides

Ceramides are naturally occurring fatty acids in the skin—also known as lipids—that hold outer-layer skin cells firmly together. And in 2022, they’re having a moment.

A Pop of Prickly Pear

After making a succulent splash in food and drink, cacti are storming onto the beauty scene. Prickly pear fruit contains amino acids as well as vitamins E and K, which help enhance the appearance of glowing skin.

Sun Protection Goes Incognito

Greet the sun face-first with sunscreens that ditch the white cast in favor of translucent non-nano zinc that leaves far less visible residue.

Style and Snooze

There’s a new crop of hair treatments and styling accessories designed to be used overnight.

Ja-Ja-Ja-Jelly!

The trendiest texture of 2022 lies somewhere between a gel and a cream. That’s right, skin-loving jellies are in, with top brands enhancing ingredients and revamping formulas.

Retail Promotions

Customers will be able to try trending products at a 25% discount (plus an extra 10% for Prime members) during Beauty Week (March 16-22), both in-store and online. Additionally, Whole Foods Market’s coveted Beauty Bags will be for sale starting Friday, March 18.
