Codif Recherche et Nature has developed Matrigenics 14 G, a concentrate of Undaria pinnatifida that is rich in Wakamic ester. The ingredient is said to reverse the signs of aging on the forehead, cheeks and chin. More specifically, after 14 days, at 2% use levels, Matrigenics 14 G significantly decreased volume and area of forehead wrinkles by 23.8% and 14.4%, respectively versus a placebo. On nasal furrows and mouth wrinkles, it decreased the volume and area. According to Codif, the material reactivates genes involved in the synthesis, the maturation, the assembling and the organization of collagen fibers in the extracellular matrix. Matrigenics 14 G is also said to reactivate genes involved in the synthesis, the maturation and the organization of elastin fibers in the extracellular matrix and reactivate genes involved in the synthesis of hyaluronic acid.
