Warner Brothers’ hot new romantic drama, “Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi grossed $14 million at the box office this past weekend during its Valentine’s Day debut.

But fans aren’t only buying into the love story directed by Emerald Fennell and based loosely off Emily Brontë’s 1847 gothic novel. They’re coveting the regal look of Robbie’s elegant, erratic character Catherine Earnshaw, who carries out a “twin flame”-type relationship with her incendiary love interest, Heathcliff. According to beauty and wellness booking platform Fresha, movie fans are enamored by Robbie’s cascading, wavy braids and rosy lipstick in a makeup fad known as “heathland glam.”

Beauty expert Annabelle Taurua breaks down five of the cult film’s standout styles.

Doll Braids

Taurua says fans have been clamoring to recreate Earnshaw’s doll braids, which encapsulate “Victorian elegance.” Taurua says they can be achieved by starting with a middle part, sectioning hair into two or three small plaits on each side, and then gently pulling at the edges to loosen them. Cement the look with face-framing strands and hairspray.

Windswept Blush

Earnshaw embraces a mixture of pale pinks to create what Taurua calls a “ghostly glow.” An ethereal take on the film’s gothic glamor, it entails frosted pink eyeshadow, blush-pink cheeks and a sheer lip tint to create a luminous, spectral effect.

Deep Plum Lips

“When you think of romantic, gothic-style glamor, it’s hard not to think of purples, deep pinks and berry shades,” said Taurua. “For those who wish to add a bit more drama to their glam, statement lips are a perfect way to channel the film’s gothic inspiration.”

To do this, eye makeup should be kept understated, while attention is drawn to the lips with an apt plum shade.

Soft Victorian Waves

To replicate the “windswept romance” of the Moors, (think a straight-faced Robbie carrying a bouquet of flowers with the wind blowing her veil hard against her face) soft, loose waves will do the trick. Taurua recommends using a curling wand, then gently brushing them out and adding a low side-part for a touch of old-Hollywood glamour. The look can be finished with a gentle amount of highlighter and a soft, rosy blush to channel the pinker tones present in Robbie’s red-carpet looks. The style gives off romantic elegance while conveying the story’s “un-doneness,” says Taurua.

Smoky Eyes

For Taurua, no gothic look is complete without a smoky eye. Charli XCX, who is behind the film’s soundtrack, paraded the look at the film’s London premiere, completing it with a baby pink wedding dress and a veil to cover her cascading black locks. To replicate Charli’s look, Taurua recommends using a charcoal or brown eyeshadow, blending it out for a softer look and finishing it with a coat of mascara. “

Keep the rest of your glam muted in order to make the eyes the focal point,” she noted.
