Ichimaru Pharcos’ New Cosmetic Ingredient Promotes Radiance

One culprit for skin dullness is uneven skin tone, which results from the combination of three color tones on the skin: brown, due to Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs); gray, caused by abnormal keratinization; and black, resulting from hyperpigmentation.

To address these complex contributors to uneven tone, AGEs interact with the receptor of AGEs (RAGE), triggering a signaling cascade in melanocytes and keratinocytes that induces both hyperpigmentation and abnormal keratinization—like a domino effect. This suggests that inhibiting the AGEs-RAGE domino effect could be a simple yet powerful strategy to achieve a more even and radiant skin tone.

Ichimaru Pharcos sought a natural material that inhibits the AGEs-RAGE interaction and discovered that an extract of Peonia albiflora roots has this ability. The company launched the natural cosmetic ingredient “PeoGlow.” The Halal-certified ingredient reduces the accumulation of AGES and blocks the AGEs-RAGE interaction, helping to achieve a more even, radiant skin tone.
