Kyowa Hakko USA Names Gerard Adams President and CEO

In his new position, Adams will be responsible for the growth and development of the company.

Gerard Adams, former general manager, corporate strategy, Kyowa Hakko Bio, Tokyo, was named president and CEO of Kyowa Hakko USA effective April 1.

Now based in the New York City office, Adams takes the reigns from Leo Cullen, who was with KHUS since 2007 as vice president of sales and marketing, executive vice president, and president and CEO, through the years that followed.

The C-suite executives have been working together since 2009, when Adams joined Kirin Holdings as senior director of corporate strategy.

“Gerard is committed to supporting KHUS during this exciting time, leading with a proven track record of driving growth and innovation,” said Cullen. “He will spearhead future developments at KHUS, drawing from his wealth of experience in cross-cultural management and high-level strategic corporate planning.”

Stepping into his new role, Adams, who holds a bachelor of law and a bachelor of business degrees from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, his native country, as well as multiple board positions in both the USA and Japan, is ready for this new chapter of his career.

“I’m honored to be taking over from Leo Cullen, who has shown exemplary leadership as CEO,” said Adams. “He has not only expanded Kyowa Hakko USA’s business but has built a high functioning team that I’m looking forward to working closely with to grow the business and explore new market opportunities for KHUS.”

As CEO, Adams will be responsible for growing the North & South American sales of Kyowa Hakko USA’s products to its customers in pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, food & beverage, and cosmetics industries, and for all aspects of Kyowa Hakko USA’s business growth and development.
