Marjorie Stewart Joyner Inducted into National Inventors Hall of Fame

Marjorie Stewart Joyner has been posthumously inducted to the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF). Joyner, who invented the permanent wave machine in the 1920s, was one of 16 new inductees that were honored in an October 26 ceremony hosted by the NIHF.
 
Joyner was celebrated for her accomplishments in the haircare industry.
 
NIHF is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The organization was founded 1973 in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with Thomas Edison being the sole inductee that year.
 
This year’s awards ceremony and dinner took place at the Anthem in Washington D.C. as a celebratrion of those have made significant impacts across a variety of industries.
