Matt Singer, a Hollywood special effects-artist and anaplastologist, has rolled out Dermaflage, aproduct designed to conceal recessed scars stemmingfrom acne, chicken pox, bite marks, cancer and surgeries such as c-sections.

Owned by Silicone Arts Laboratories, Dermaflage is billed as the first topical dermal filler on the market.Initially sold directly to dermatologists and plastic surgeons, it has been reconfigured for consumers to use, according to the company.

Dermaflage’s medical-grade silicone fills in indented scars and its unique materials match virtually any skin tone, according to the company. In addition to not caking like makeup concealers, the product is water and smudge proof, and one application lasts up to 36 hours. The silicone is translucent and moves with the skin so there is no cracking or peeling.

“Not everyone can afford plastic surgery or wants to go through the surgical process,” said Singer. “And surgery doesn’t always work. Many people use makeup to cover their scars, but makeup tends to cake and does more to emphasize the scar than hide it. This product bridges the gap between makeup and plastic surgery. It is the most effective cosmetic solution for people who want to cover indented scars with little effort, no surgery, and no injections.
Singer and Silicone Arts Laboratories are confident that Dermaflage will effectively cover scars for just about anyone, and is offering a money back guarantee to those who are unsatisfied with the results.
A starter kit is $59.95, according to the firm’s website.
