Procter & Gamble introduces Tide Coldwater, a laundry detergent designed to clean in lower temperatures. Company executives said Tide Coldwater provides a deep clean that is fabric- and color-safe. The detergent launches nationally by late this month and broadly in February.
The formulation of the product was fueled by consumer desire to reduce high energy bills, according to P&G executives. "Our research tells us that most consumers recognize and value the benefits of washing in cold water, primarily fabric protection and money and energy savings," said Julie Woffington, Tide brand manager.
The detergent has joined the Alliance to Save Energy, an energy efficiency organization. The launch is supported by advertising designed to educate consumers on the energy benefits of using cold water in the wash. More info can be found at www.tidecoldwater.com.
