The Natural Products Association (NPA) has promoted Dr. Cara Welch to VP of scientific and regulatory Affairs, overseeing NPA’s quality assurance programs, including GMP certification and the NPA Natural Seal.
Welch advises NPA members on regulatory, safety, nutrition and health issues. Additionally, she is responsible for assisting natural product industry members to implement policies in response to government initiatives in the regulatory arena, and working with officials in the FDA and other agencies whose actions have a direct impact on the natural products industry.
“Dr. Welch has been a major contributor to achieving the success of both our Natural Seal and GMP certification programs, and she is the perfect choice to lead this department. The NPA Natural Sealhas been a huge success, with nearly 600 certifications since its launch in 2008.We are excited that Dr. Welch will help us fulfill our goal of helping consumers get the natural products they want to maintain and improve their health,” said John Gay, NPA executive director and CEO.
