Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.
(GCPL) has named Nisaba Godrej chief executive officer and managing director. The appointment is effective on July 1. Godrej already serves as executive chairperson of the board. Her father, Adi Godrej, is chairman of Godrej Group, which has annual sales of $4.7 billion. GCPL, a subsidiary of Godrej, makes a wide range of personal care products, including skin care, hair care and personal cleansers.
Vivek Gambhir, who was CEO and managing director since 2013, resigned for personal reasons. During his seven-year tenure, the company doubled net profits and expanded across markets, especially in Asia and Africa.
Nisaba Godrej has a BSc degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She serves as the Chairperson of Teach for India.
