The world's No. 1 beauty company is elevating its No. 2 man to the top spot. L'Oréal will appoint Nicolas Hieronimus as chief executive officer, succeeding Jean-Paul Agon, according to a report in Le Figaro. The move will become official with board approval.
Hieronimus, 56, has spent his entire career at L'Oréal and was expected to take over as chief after being groomed as Agon’s successor and second-in-command.
Agon, who is only L’Oréal’s fifth CEO in its 113-year history, announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down as chief executive next year when he turns 65 and his mandate expires. Hieronimus will take over the top spot in April.
