Firmenich, Givaudan, IFF and Symrise have launched the Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council (FSAC), a new trade association dedicated to the strategic development of responsible science-based public policy in response to the fast-evolving legislative and regulatory landscape in North America.
The newly formed trade association will provide an organizational framework for fragrance innovators and suppliers to discuss and develop strategic approaches in three focus areas: Federal & State Legislative and Regulatory Activity, Science Advocacy, and Communications.
FSAC brings together fragrance innovators across the industry to support the development of science based public policies that ensure the safety and compliance of fragrance and their ingredients for use in all categories.
Collaborating with Other Organizations and Associations
The Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council will foster collaboration with existing global trade organizations such as the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) to apply technical knowledge and specialized capabilities. Collaboration with other associations such as the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the Fragrance Creators Association (FCA), the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA), the National Candle Association (NCA), and the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), is essential to align on appropriate regulatory topics that target the fragrance industry altogether.
The strategic approach initiated by the four founding partners will focus mainly on B2B audiences, including customers, and will lead new conversations on topics not already covered by existing allied trade groups. The Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council will support the IFRA Code of Practice and will require all members to comply with IFRA Ingredient Standards.
